Evening Grosbeak (Coccothraustes vespertinus)

These large seed feeding birds are as impressive as they are beautiful! The hedge near the pool provides protection for their family, and we provide sunflower seeds to help keep them nourished - we go through 80 to 90 POUNDS of sunflower seeds in two months! These Grosbeaks consume their fair share! They have a very loud chirp, that is unmistakable from the other birds that frequent the front of the cabin. Just sit down for an hour or two... you're sure to be entertained!
