CAMPGROUND
FINDS
Fort Steele Original Campground
This gem of a Park is located 2 km. south of Fort Steele.
It is an older campground with 15 amp service. It is owned
and operated by Rhonda, Bob and their two children. It is
like coming home, Bob or Rhonda wave to you as you come and
go. They truly make you feel at home. One of their unique
services is to introduce you to other campers that they
feel you would enjoy associating with. You will find
hummingbirds, deer, and other critters of the wild on a
regular basis. This is one of the cleanest, charming, and
the most hospitable campgrounds that we have ever found.
The pool is super clean, and you can sign out badminton
racquets, bean bag toss, or enjoy the child antics at the
playground. We stopped for the night and stayed for a week.
Don’t miss this one or you lose! Even though it is an older
park, there is lots of room for the big rigs. A great place
to take your Grandchildren (if you are lucky enough to have
any).
From other
campers:
"Once
again, THANK YOU
for your hospitality at our
"Summer Home"! It wouldn't feel like a vacation now without
a stopover at the friendliest, most relaxing campground in
the world. You guys are the best!!!"

"I just wanted
to send a quick note to let you know how happy we were to
stay there, and will definitely be telling our friends (and
anybody else who will listen) how pleasant your campground
is. We had 4 golden retrievers with us (2 in each family's
trailer) and we knew when we pulled up and saw your golden
statue on your deck (we have the same one on ours) that
this was the place to stay. Our dogs really enjoyed the
trails, and it was really nice to see that people pick up
after their dogs. The washrooms were very clean, and the
staff were extremely helpful and nice.
The sites were also
nice and clean, and the campground nice and quiet - the
only noise coming from the thunderstorm that blew over. And
that I don't mind a bit. Living in the city, quiet is at a
premium, and very appreciated. We had two of the sites at
the upper end of the campground. Our kids really enjoyed
your playground as well. I wish we could have stayed
longer.
I will recommend your campground to everybody at
the risk of not being able to get a site the next time we
come through, since you don't take reservations ;-)
We will
definitely return. Thank you,"

"This campground was the most pleasant, friendly and
humorously designed campground we discovered during our
7-week travel by our RV in the western part of Canada in
May, June and July of 2005. We stayed 4 nights on this well
managed campground and can recommend it to every one."

"Just wanted to say thank you for an
excellent stopover. We (two fifth
wheels travelling together) stopped on our way back
from Alaska on July 30th. That was the night of the fly-by
of the medivac chopper. That was a treat in itself. It was
a pleasure to visit with three generations of nice ladies
that run a nice quiet place to park a camper. Keep up the
good work!!!
We hope your season went well and that you have a great
winter." Thanks again,

"We recently stayed at your campground,
and I just had to drop you a line to tell you how much we
enjoyed our stay.
I have camped for over 40 years, and
during that time I have learned to stay away from private
campgrounds (KOA included). We normally stay at National,
Provincial or State parks, but occasionally due to timing,
must stay at a private campground. Normally these are
expensive, noisy, unfriendly, RV oriented places.
Now after
all this time I have to alter my standards. We happened on
your campground because it was placed close to two things I
wanted to visit in your area; Fort Steele and The Canadian
Museum of Rail Travel. Your friendly welcome put me
immediately at ease. We found your rates reasonable, your
campground clean and well organized, and
VERY
QUIET! I cannot over
emphasize the QUIET.
No road noise, nor railway noise, no noisy camper noise!
It was nice that you have tent sites, as many private
campgrounds do not.
I would heartily recommend your campground to any serious
campers who want a friendly QUIET place to stay!
BTW, the
humming birds were an unexpected bonus."

"We enjoyed staying at your campground
very much. Thank you for your hospitality and your toys. We
all love playing "scoop ball", badminton and volleyball,
not to mention that the girls loved swimming. We all had a
lot of fun and it really "made" our trip. We would
definately come back to stay at your site and recommend it
to anyone, both family and tourists who visit our site and
are heading your way! Thank you again."

These are only some of
the letters we have received, and we are very appreciative
of these folks for taking the time to send us these notes
and letters!
Rhonda and I often
wonder, "What will we do if ALL of our campers decide to
return on the same day??" We don't know! But we'll figure
something out! It will sure be a lot of fun when that day
comes! That's why we say "Only the good people stay at our
campground!"
