Rufous Hummingbird (Selasphorus rufus)
A
beautiful Hummingbird (aren't they all though!), this male
Rufous was in just the right spot for the light to reflect
as a bright red patch on his chest. At a glance, you might
have mistaken him for a Ruby -throated, but as soon as you
see his brown sides, there is no mistaking him! There are
two species of hummingbirds that come to the feeder. We
know that a third species (Calliope) are in the area, but
we haven't been able to see/photo one
yet!
This
male puts on quite a flight display when he's trying to
impress the females! A lot of people enjoy sitting on the
veranda of the cabin where they enjoy the free show!
