Western Toad (Bufo boreas)
This big
fellow spent a lot of time around the front of the cabin -
once it got dark! He was a welcome sight, as he sat under
the chairs catching any bugs that ventured near him! As a
gift, he would leave us a large turd to clean up in the
morning, but we didn't mind. After all, that feces
represented a LOT of bugs that would have otherwise
bothered us!
During
the day, he would wander over to one of the gardens where
he would bury himself into the cool dirt and await evening,
when the whole ritual would start over!
